ABSTRACT As the cradle of classical Persian poetry, the Khorasani style possesses linguistic and structural characteristics deeply rooted in linguistic archetypes. Archaism in this period transcends mere temporal simplicity; it represents a conscious interplay between the poet's worldview and the prevailing linguistic structure. Aiming to analyze and classify the components of archaism in Khorasani-style poetry, this research investigates the function of archaic elements within the aesthetic structure of the works. Employing a descriptive-analytical method grounded in a stylistic approach, the study examines selected examples from the collected works of prominent poets of the era—such as Rudaki, Ferdowsi, and Unsuri—to identify and categorize linguistic (lexical and syntactic) and rhetorical components. The findings indicate that archaism in Khorasani-style poetry manifests at three levels: lexical (use of obsolete and archaic words), grammatical (retention of archaic syntactic structures), and semantic (employment of ancient epic imagery). These components are not merely linguistic vestiges; rather, they serve as tools to convey a robust tone, evoke an epic quality, and establish an aesthetic distance between the text and everyday reality. The study concludes that archaism in the Khorasani style is a stylistic strategy that imbues the poetry of this period with historical identity and epic gravitas. Ultimately, this study demonstrates that the transition from the Khorasani style to subsequent styles was not so much a complete rupture as it was the result of a functional shift in these very archaic markers, occurring within the context of the era's social transformations.
