ABSTRACT As a masterpiece of Italian literature and a cornerstone of world literature, *The Divine Comedy* is less a work of imaginary travelogue and more an attempt to articulate a medieval worldview in which astronomy plays a pivotal role. This study aims to examine the connection between the scientific findings of ancient astronomy and Dante’s theological framework. Employing a descriptive-analytical approach, the article analyzes how Dante utilized the Ptolemaic cosmological model as a foundation for depicting the spheres of Paradise and the spiritual stations of souls. The findings reveal that, for Dante, astronomy is not merely a descriptive tool but a symbolic structure through which proximity to—or distance from—the center of existence (God) is explained via the revolution of the celestial spheres and the movement of the stars. The study demonstrates that by synthesizing Aristotelian physics and Christian theology, Dante created a coherent worldview in which science and faith exist in perfect harmony. The results indicate that Dante drew upon the astronomical knowledge of his era both as a map for the afterlife’s journey and as a means to articulate the stages of spiritual ascent.
