Close imitation of the thoughts and phrases of other authors, copying the expression of ideas, structural similarities in text, or attributing the ideas and results of others without proper citation, or presenting it as original scientific research, is considered plagiarism. The Saba Research Journal investigates plagiarism and treats it as a critical issue in the research process. For this purpose, the software used to check articles is Samim Noor.
The following are all considered plagiarism:
- Presenting another's work as one's own.
- Copying phrases or ideas from others without citation.
- Providing incorrect information about a source.
- Changing words while copying the sentence structure from a source without citation.
- Copying a significant number of words or ideas from a source to the extent that it constitutes the majority of one's own work (regardless of whether the source is cited).
- Images and Diagrams: Using images, diagrams, and graphs in your work without obtaining proper permission and providing correct citation is plagiarism. Authors must obtain written permission from the copyright holder for the use of any image or diagram.
Plagiarism Policy and Procedures
The Saba Research Journal conducts a textual similarity check prior to the peer-review process. Based on the level of content similarity, the following actions are taken:
- If the article's similarity rate is low, the article is returned to the author for correction. The author can remove all instances of similarity and revise the content before resubmitting the article. After correction, a more thorough check is performed on the resubmitted article to prevent any potential plagiarism and copying from published data.
- If the content similarity is very high, the article is rejected and will not have the opportunity for correction and publication.
- If plagiarism is detected at later stages, all measures pertaining to plagiarism misconduct will be taken. If the level of plagiarism is determined to be very high after publication, the article will be retracted.
Recommendations for Authors
- Always cite sources correctly and attribute ideas to their originators.
- All references must contain complete bibliographic information.
- All sources cited within the text must be listed in the references, and vice versa.
- When more than 5 consecutive words are copied, quotation marks must be used.
